17. No newspapers either...?
...THE HORROR! I cannot get out of bed without the prospect of a newspaper. Subscribe to the NYT and swap mid-day with our neighbors upstairs who get the SF Chronicle.

On the other hand, I have gone months without turning on the telly. But if you watch or read ANY news whatsoever, Cindy is there. Yesterday in the Chron, she was first page, above the fold, as in THE STORY. Of course, SF is so blue it is almost indigo, and I love being around intelligent, interesting folks.

We live in Marin, one of the wealthiest counties in the country, and it is overwhelmingly Democrat. Kind of a cool conundrum.

We have an eccentric doctor who stands outside the local market with an ironing board signing up petitioners against the war - he's been doing it for about two years now. And every Friday afternoon he and his recruits set up shop with their anti-war signs at an intersection on the only road into town. The folks who live near that intersection don't much appreciate all of the honking in favor of the cause, but GET THIS - they don't want to shut the anti-war protest down, they just want people to flash their headlights instead!
