17. Regression to the mean

Genetic science says that when highly intelligent people spawn, their offspring will likely be closer to average intelligence, or will "regress to the mean." Daddy Bush, whatever else we may think of him, was very intelligent, and Barbara Bush is no idiot.
But their son is as intellectually average as any president has ever been...and mean as hell to boot.
The whole nation is regressing.
Damn.
