... I believe it hugely understates the scope and extent of the damage done and the only plausible reasons for such behavior by the Bushoilini Cabal.

(1) I do not believe for an instant that the primary motivation was punishment of Wilson for not toeing the line. Indeed, the Cabal had been dissing, poking and prodding Wilson for a year, the only result of which could be him going public with his NYTimes opinion piece.

(2) I believe the Cabal's motive was to destroy the network of Nuclear Non-Proliferation NOCs operating under the cover of Brewster Jennings. This network was apparently the source of intel that clearly contradicted the WMD hoax - and was thus uncovering the fraudulent global disintel operation serving the neocon interests.

Junior is a distraction. While clearly somewhat aware, there's no way he's other than a puppet - a front man and stump speaker -- while the Chief Operating Officer of this Regime is Cheney. It could only be the result of Cheney's pressure and visits to the CIA that Plame's identity became known to the WHIG and the cabal. (The AF1/Africa memorandum carried by Powell was secondary.) Cheney's sole purpose in visiting the CIA and engaging in so much examination and questioning of their intel could only be to learn as much as he could about whatever field operatives who were harvesting accurate intel that contradicted the neocon/Chalabi/OSP/Mossad/ISI hoax disintel.

Thus, Rove would take the fall to protect Libby, and Libby would take the fall to protect Cheney, imho. The core element of this affair that will be defended at all costs is the intentional corruption of US intelligence operations.
