48. Bush is apparently psychologically unable to fire anyone. In the rare
cases where an insider has told him he was wrong, and therefore had to be excised, shrub had someone else do it (e.g. Paul O'Neil says in his book he was canned by a call from Cheney, not from shrub. My theory: shrub is tortured by the knowledge that he really isn't qualified for his job (or pretty much any job, for that matter), and giving someone the old heave ho hits too close to home for him. Of course, not firing a host of treasonous leakers and perjurers will highlight this pathological hangup of shrub's, not to mention causing chaos in the remaining shreds of what was the BushCo administration.

My prediction: shrub will crack under the pressure and be eased out for 'health reasons'. Only question is who will be the new vp-soon-to-be-pres? Probably more adult repubs will insist on a moderate, since any BushCo/DeLay type will only end up going up in flames soon after taking office.
