What should happen to the Democratic leadership if 2004 is lost?

If Bush gets another four years and the GOP gains more Congressional seats as well as gains in state and local elections in 2004, what should be done about the leadership? Their meekness and playing it safe will be the undoing of the Democratic Party and America IMHO!
