WASHINGTON (AP) — The top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said Wednesday that none of the Democratic presidential candidates has expressed a coherent foreign policy although it's early in the campaign.

Sen. Joseph Biden, who once flirted with the idea of seeking the party's nomination, said the candidates have to "demonstrate that they have a foreign policy, a security policy, that is coherent and is grown up, that we can handle the bad things out there in the world."

Biden said he wants to help shape Democratic foreign policy, but he said, "what I don't want to do is flyspeck their (the candidates') primary strategy."

He added: "I mean I'm a guy that didn't make it to Iowa, so how the hell do I know."
