He's pro-abortion, anti-guns, he's a "sensitive guy" who loves to cook. I had a gay friend who asked him out becausu he thought my brother was gay. My sister-in-law sounds like a Democrat - believes in all of the Democratic values. You'd think they'd be Democrats right? WRONG.
They're both Republican because their parents were and everyone else they grew up with was (affluent area). They were raised (as I was) to think that Democrats were the worst sort of people. There's a lot of covert and subtle racism also. I really think that a lot of Republicanism is just downright racism.
My parents are also pro-abortion and not at all religious. BUT they're country club WASPS. It's all about the money...
Luckily, when I got older I realized that this was all just complete bullshit and couldn't get out of Republicanville fast enough.
