That was a full page ad in the Hollywood Reporter prior to the film's LA release. I'll agree that no one really found it to be a scary movie after the release went wide. The secret was blown about a week into the LA/NY release. It was obvious at that point the movie couldn't stand up to it's own marketing hype. But the campaign was all about it being scary. All the early press focused on scariness. I just remember thinking after seeing it, that all those b-list actors (Scott Wolf comes to mind) that saw it at film festivals and claimed to have turned away from the screen in horror, must have been the biggest wussies in the world. I do agree that it is disturbing to me that I never saw the Blair Witch. I think after sitting through that I deserved to see something. Even if it was just some goth girl with a pentagram t-shirt, but I deserved more.
