I remember looking around me and wondering what the hell everyone was saying, they didn't sound like my non-ethnic parents. What's all the noise about?
I grew up thinking, in middle america, that only people like me existed. How could people ever think differently than me?
Then I did. I thought differently from me. I met people from many different places and with many differing ideas. I learned to think outside my box.
I married one of those people. She was from Trinidad. I still love her, but I don't agree with her on anything.
I am an ethnic adult.
Any stories?
edited to add an "n" and that I moved every other year - the military jostled this family around like we were rocks.
