6. Well...
The music I like most is from bands that get very little support from the media giants. They make most of their money touring anymore. Or, they're bands that haven't existed for 5, 10, 20, even 30 years. How much airplay does Spock's Beard get? How about Gentle Giant or King Crimson? They are around because they're (or they were) GOOD at what they do, and it's the love and support of fans that keeps them around. Not big $$$$ beer company sponsorships and merchandising.

As for movies, I'll watch anything out there that seems good to me in premise, but I couldn't care less about individual actors or anything. I tend to avoid the "blockbuster hits" because I find many of them to be hokey and even patronizing sometimes.

I don't think the "corporate fools" are controlling my mind or my thoughts to any appreciable degree. I judge everything based on its own merits and say screw the hype!

It is possible to indulge in mass entertainment without being assimilated. :)
