I didn't get hooked right away but my roomie in college was totally mesmerized by "Born to Run," and Bruce caught on with me cuz he played it so much. I got into it, then backtracked to his earlier stuff. I now own all his stuff from "Live" back on vinyl.
Three things about Bruce I find so intriguing.
First is that he was a kind of Woody Guthrie for the Reagan years, when I lived in the Rust Belt and could understand songs like "My Home Town." (Still chokes me up, as I left mine and went South due to the economy, too.)
The second thing is, his music has grown with me. The older I get, the more meaning and relevance I seem to find in his lyrics.
Third, he sings a lot about fast cars and I am a gearhead! The absolute BEST "car song" I have ever heard is "Racin' in the Streets" off "Darkness on the Edge of Town." Not yer typical hot car song.
He's the Boss, for sure.
