My little guy spent his first nine years with his biological sister, but his owner died, so they were separated. He immediately bonded with my female cocker spaniel, but I lost her six months after I adopted him. That was really rough. I adopted Sara six months later, and he looks to her for leadership, but it's not the same. According to my vet, male-female is the best combination for dogs getting along, but not in the way you mean. Both my dogs were neutered long ago. And my tiny Meneken is a Brussels Griffon, a very rare breed. He may have been unwanted, but he attracts attention wherever I take him, since he is so unusual, and, I agree, very cute, IMHO. I just wish he'd eat. I'll try anything.
