6. Ok Bill need to ask
do you also need it for graphics work? If you do I may suggest a tablet PC. If that is the case I use an HP, but Toshiba right now is coming out with a great model, and it is now beefy enough and fast enough for those who need a faster machine than my tortouse. (Oh and I love to edit on her though, the Tablet PC allows me to save some paper)

Oh and time to do my shameless plug on some linux programs that DO run on Windows

GIMP (for all those graphic needs)
OPenOffice Heck I have been runing their Beta now, and it does a great job of ... believe it or not page layout.
