LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -- A Lauderdale Lakes high school senior who was hit on her head with a shot put during track practice will be back out on the field.
The mother of 17-year-old Mona Hassan says her daughter has already been asking if they won.
Another student was demonstrating her technique to teammates Wednesday when she released the 8-pound shot that hit Hassan who was working on her spin.
Fire-rescue workers say Hassan did not lose consciousness and was awake and alert. She was taken to the hospital for tests.
Cardinal Gibbons teammate Jenn Habegger placed first in the shot put competition and advanced to Saturday's final in the North Central Track Meet.
