From what I've read, lots of people who can't swim have no problems snorkeling. On any of the snorkeling tours, they put you in a life jacket anyway. My wife can swim, but she's a little claustrophobic and she didn't think she'd be able to snorkel, but once she tried it, she loved it. Both of us are hooked on it now. Make sure you put the sunscreen on when you're snorkeling. Even though there's a thin film of water over you all the time, it acts like a sunray intensifier and will give you a heck of a burn on the back of your neck, back, or legs if you're not protected. Have fun!
