49. Maybe you could make it better.
GD has been chaotic lately and I've been pondering why. There are probably many reasons for it, among them:

1) We live in hell.
2) We have four more years of hell.
3) We feel very alone here in hell.

The Republicans have Fox News and talk radio validating their anger - speaking out for them day in and day out. This enables them to stay focused and on-topic. It's cathartic. They feel sane because their viewpoints are validated and broadcast to the country every day.

What do we have? Some occassional thought provoking threads from you and a handful of other DUers, A handful of threads daily from KOS and other blogs, Olbermann for an hour a day (and he's just reporting the news without a conservative slant), and John Stuart for 30 minutes four days a week. Hell, I've even put the freaking Onion on my list of "newspapers" that I read, because it's more like reality than satire anymore. I hungrily await the "toons" threads.

It's sad.

We literally salivate over things like editorial columns from newspapers we've never heard of that are brave enough to report the truth.

We have a coupla Senators that we cling to for dear life because they represent our party.

That's it. It sucks to be a Democrat right now, in soooo many ways and on soooo many levels.

But, there's potential here. I've seen many posts by you in the GD forum that I didn't agree with at first but then made me think about it and alter my opinion, albeit slightly.

There's potential there for people to start and discuss topics that AREN'T mere replications of topics already spoon-fed to us by the media. But it would take thought and creativity and of course it helps if the author is someone who tends to draw an audience.
