If we had depended on people like Tiny Mel to win the Revolution, we'd still be subjects of the Windsor Family. Script by Robert Donat, also responsible for "Severing Ryan's Privates." Banastre Tarleton was an evil character...e.g., he didn't take prisoners...but not THAT evil.

"The Messenger:" what the hell were they thinking?

"Gladiator:" about as historically accurate as "Cleopatra." No Roman general would be dumb enough to fight a battle like that opening scene, unless he was going for a re-play of the Teutoberger Wald. (History Geek Reference...)
