14. Coons Are Terrific Cats!
I'll congratulate you for taking her in. Coons are remarkably healthy and hardy cats but like all cats, prefer a good home with a lap.

I like, no make that love, all kinds of cats, but I have a soft(er) spot for a few breeds, and Coons are one of them. Both of mine were throw-away cats and were two of the most beautiful, charming, loving and intelligent cats I've ever met. Lily was a Bronze mackeral tabby and Pete was a brown mackeral tabby. The only bad thing I can think of about Coons is that primary degenerative encephalomyelopthy is beginning to show up in both purpose-bred and random-bred cats, and it's an untreatable, fatal and heartbreaking disease. It primarily strikes large-breed dogs, and is still rare in cats, but it used to be unheard of in any feline.

I have to admit that I think that their native breediness is kind of cool, since they're such beautiful and smart cats, but the reason I adopted Coons was because they showed up needing homes!
