22. Clorox! For two reasons.
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 10:23 PM by antfarm
1. The obnoxious ads pushing disinfectants with bleach, supposedly because your kids NEED them. Over a backdrop of children playing, Clorox claims that their product "kills the germs that make them sick. When their world is cleaner, their lives are healthier."

But the opposite may be true. Not only can overuse of these products help to create superbacteria like the horrible staph infections we are seeing now~~~~~Studies are now showing that kids who grow up in homes that are super-disinfected are more likely to become asthmatic, apparently because they don't get exposed to the bacteria that help them build a strong immune system. Most pediatricians recommend using regular soap and water for most cleaning purposes.

2. On top of this, Clorox is now marketing a new disinfecting product, with claims that it kills bacteria but is also mild enough for use with kids and pets. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this means they have added more water to the product to dilute it. So they are charging the same amount of money for a "new and improved" product which is just diluted, so they can sell less bleach for more money. Same concept as the extra-special "whipped" yogurt you see advertised for the same price as the stuff that isn't puffed up with air.

Slimy, slimy, slimy.
