Based on my bullshit math, the Florida Marlins are playing over their heads

and the Atlanta Braves are under-achievers.

On the left, we see the National League standings if they were based on the difference between the number of runs a ball club has scored and the number it's allowed. The Cubs have scored 50 more runs than they've given up, a greater difference than any other ball club's. ("RDB" is Run Difference Behind, similar to Games Behind in the actual standings.) But on the right, we can see that the Cubs' win-loss record is merely tied with the Dodgers for fourth best in the league. The column at far right shows that Arizona is one place higher (+1) than the difference between the runs it's scored and allowed, Florida is four places higher and Atlanta is five places lower.







This is what stats geeks do. :freak:
