Rusty is in the hospital.

They didn't expect his white cell count to be so high. (18000, normal range is 6000~9000)

They apologized for me not being able to get in on Saturday. (No biggie; the vet ER took care of the immediate bleeding and put the collar on. The doc also said that without the collar, Rus would have chewed his foot off.)

They couldn't do the psitt test either; she tried to extract blood but it was too thin.

They say the prognosis is good, fortunately, but they do not know if the problem was caused by the injury -- or if he already had an illness. Especially with Petco saying their birds were in good shape, I am keeping a closer eye on Scooter and the two parrotlets. Indeed, parrots often get easily annoyed and angry when ill but Rusty was just acting playful.

Grr.

I will have an update tomorrow, at which point I'll likely know if Scooter needs to go in.

On the plus side, she's seen birds with 30000 white cells and they've survived.

If all goes well, he will be out on Friday.

But, damn, the foot looked red... I just didn't expect it'd be this much of a news.
