I know the Republicans like to try to take credit for every good thing we do, so no doubt there was a lot of media spin with that theory in it. What are you basing this on? Your memory?

I have no doubt that Bush went along with Democratic proposals in order to get his cut passed but to say that Bush originated the idea of the Earned Income Credit or was the prime mover in having it increased is just silly. Tax cuts on the rich - THAT is a Republican idea. Tax cuts targeted towards working people, towards lower-income parents - THAT is a Democratic idea. It's called progressive taxation.
