Campaigning with Waffles
Advertisements [?]
It is a John Kerry college student meme, campaign against Dean with waffles. When I first heard of it, I was amused as all they were doing was passing out waffles at Dean events as if that in and of itself proved something.

In Colorado (and I'm sure other places) the effort has become more organized.

Tuesday was a stepping stone for Students for Kerry, which has only been active at CU for about three to four weeks. A future goal of the group is to bring Kerry to speak on campus by the spring.

About 40 people showed up for the breakfast and informational event Tuesday. The crowd began to dissipate when waffles and coffee ran low, but others remained to ask questions about Kerry's policies and discuss the recent debate on Oct. 26.

Meininger said he thought the waffle breakfast was successful and accomplished its goal of highlighting the differences between Dean and Kerry, two early frontrunners in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

I am not a big fan of Kerry, but this is good campaigning. Nothing too derisive, more about boosting their candidate in the face of Dean's visit to their campus. Campus Dean supporters should be looking for a way to counter this effectively - like handing out little jugs of Vermont Maple syrup with Dean's response to the issues being highlighted at the Waffle breakfast.
