If there is no free TV will the government subsidize cable for poor people |
|
So Michael Powell, the FCC Director, otherwise known as semicolon, is going around the country saying that the days of free TV are over. Well, does this mean that poor people will have no access to the broadcast news? No access to emergency announcements, etc? It seems to me almost a fundamental right that the goverment must provide people with a way of hearing emergency announcemnts. So then, is the goverment going to be obliged to subsidize cable tv for the poor? Certainly the cable industry wouldn't mind this. And so we approach the method in Powell's madness
