We live in an plutocracy that has retained some democratic decorations. The fact is the citizens of this country do not care about democracy. If they did we would have one. If we want a more progressive expenditure of wealth this will have to be done by non democratic means. By doing what the Republicans do. Grab power and use it when we have it. Even when we have a so called Democratic administration like Clinton's, in fact, the policies went steadily to the right. They have been going steadily right since 1950. Democrats have never reversed this trend even when in power. Republicans have accelerated it whenever they have gained even the most marginal power.
