Secret Service hijack the Australian Parlaiment |
|
Senator Bob Brown, leader of the Australian Greens Party has expressed outrage at the latest George Bush commandment. For the first time in the history of the Australian Parlaiment, based on the Westminster system of an open forum were members of the public can sit in the Public Gallery and watch debate between their elected representatives,no member of the public will be allowed into the building during the visit of the US President when he gives his adress this thursday.
Bob Brown's other question was ignored when the Speaker of the House declined to disclose, despite an MP's constitutional right for full disclosure when he asks a question, whether members of the Secret Service would be armed and whether the Speaker was prepared to express confidence in Australia's own Protective Services to guard a visiting head of state.
