What's really behind Bush's stimulus.

Cross post from GD.

So the economy that was doing great a month ago suddenly needs help from Uncle Sam to the tune of over $100 billion. He vetoes a spending bill to be "fiscally 'sponsible" and then jumps in to this. Why?
Well dear DUers, I'll tell you why.
Whatever form this stimulus package takes, G W will insist that his tax cuts are made permanent as a part of it. He'll threaten to veto any Bill without that included. He'll cry that the Dems don't care about "worken people" as he obstructs the process and blames Congress.
Why do I think this, because even though none of the things that were proposed today included a "tax hike", several times Bush and his cronies said they would not agree to any tax hike as part of the legislation. The only "tax hike" around is the resumption of previous tax rates when the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010. Which by the way, are two years away and can not affect the economy now. Though Smirky will argue otherwise.
And how much would you like to bet that the Dems don't roll over again and give Junior everything that he wants.
I will be happy if my prediction is wrong, but mark my words.
