39. Democracy really was what was standing between the world and
this kind of persecution of the truth. Our strength as a nation was/should be built on our committment to the truth and we were respected at one time for being a nation that would stand up for the truth even if it embarrassed US.

I know it's only speculation, but when the facts, only the facts of all the dissparite things the Bush administration does are woven together it simply shows an administration afraid of the truth in any form. So to me with the way they disappear evidence and laws that protect us, it is very clear that they are complicit in this attack on the Italian journalist.
