"I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees."

"I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees."
-President Bush, September 1, three days after the storm, four days after receiving this briefing citing the likelihood of the levees being breached.

Mr. President:

How could you look into the camera and utter those false words when you knew people were needlessly suffering and dying while you were vacationing, hamming it up with country music performer Mark Wills, strumming a guitar?

How can you look at yourself in the mirror every day knowing that, when faced with another crisis of the gravest proportions, you were again beset with uncertainty, indecision, and inaction – anything but the strong leader you purport to be?

How could you take your oath, in god's name, to protect the citizens of this country and then turn your back on a whole city, abandoning them before, during, and long after this horrible tragedy?

Fat Tuesday was just a couple days ago, and the indomitable spirit of New Orleaneans was evident throughout the city, but why are you asking them to continue to fight battles to get on their feet again when you could help spare them this misery?

Why did you hide this video where everyone (even Brownie) told you the levees could break? Hmmm. I wonder.

Why is there no new FEMA Director with Hurricane Season approaching?

Why does FEMA have 11,000 units of manufactured housing that sit idly in Arkansas because no one has figured out how to get them to Katrina victims?

Why did you reject the bipartisan proposal to fund housing reconstruction?

And why didn't you solve these housing issues before you decided to evict the Katrina victims from their temporary housing?

Why can't you provide opportunities for displaced New Orleaneans to vote in the upcoming mayoral elections? You did it for Iraqis living in America. Why can't you help New Orleaneans vote?

Or maybe you can tell us that tired story about how much you care about the people of New Orleans and how you are doing everything you can to help them.
