Lexington News Bulletin: Minutemen calling the DU
Advertisements [?]
--- "Okay guys,.... it's finally happened. The goddamned British are on their way. Some guy named Paul Revere just rode in with the heads-up. They'll be here by daybreak, and they're planning on taking all our stuff from the armory,.... guns, ammo, powder,... you name it. Then they plan to march over to Concord and do the same thing. We have to stop them at all costs. We're gonna assemble at the Lexington Green first thing in the morning, and try to put together some kind of a plan. We may not have much time, though,... and there might be some shooting. Put on your game face, guys,... and prepare for the worst. We've had enough of this shit, and it has to stop now. God be with us."

--- And the DU responds------------------------------------

--- Aww, man,....... are you sure it's the British?

--- Ummm,... I'm not good for the 19th,... my wife's sister is coming to visit. Can we make it the 20th?

--- I heard that George III was seeing this French floozy on the side,... if you know what I mean. I'm not getting involved until there is a complete accounting of this philandering.

--- God-dang it! I just sprained my hand yesterday milking the cow,.. but I'll be with you in spirit.

--- Personally, I think we need to investigate this "one if by land,.. two if by sea" business.

--- Hee hee hee,... I hear the British wear red 'cause they like boys,.... you know.

--- Paul Revere? So who the hell is Paul Revere? Do you know his family?

--- Fine! Let them take the guns. I have never liked guns. I do not want guns in my house.

--- But,... but,.. but,... the British represent the KING! We can't cross the KING.

--- Mr. Revere should have given more notice. Our discussion group doesn't meet until Thursday.

--- Ben Franklin looks like an ugly old woman. You ever notice that?

--- So,... who do you think will be the next Royal Governor?

--- Uhh, ok,.. y'all go on ahead. I need to,.. uh,.. clean my musket. I'll catch up with you

--- I'm sure that if we just talk to them, we can work this whole thing out.

--- Sorry,... but when you say "shooting," I am like, so out of here.
----------------------------------------------------------

--- A really good forum can deal with unflattering criticism,.. and where the national purpose and the common good are concerned, that criticism has to be an everyday event. I know that all of you are good people, but I worry that time and events are creeping up on you,... that the "it can't happen here" outlook continues to buy time for the bad guys. April 19th, 1775 was when our American ancestors had to make a choice, and make it fast. They were resolute. When push comes to shove, is the DU that resolute?
