Last week Matthews was talking about how Edwards has a lot of union support from big, burly guys who take no guff... what Matthews likes to think of as guys like him.

He suggested that Edwards might outperform in the caucus system because Edwards' union supporters would intimidate (his word) the type of students or effete intellectuals who support Obama... that people would be reluctant to vote how they wanted when the big burly Edwards guys looked those pencil-necks in the eye.

And Matthews thought this was a GOOD thing.

For the record: This was a Matthews fantasy. There is no reason whatsoever to think that Edwards supporters or anyone else's supporters will physically intimidate people at the caucuses. The point is only that Matthews like imagining scenarios like that, and views them with favor. Except when used by a candidate he hates...
