13. 2008 is simply the wrong time for her, 2004 would have been better
I think that in terms of the political landscape 2008 is just not a good year for Hillary. I mean look at what the base wants, change, what do plenty of the independents want more, change. Hillary quite simply can't offer change while being associated at the hip with everything Bill Clinton does, no matter how hard she tries she's still just a shadow Bill Clinton presidency in most people's eyes.

In 2004 her message could have worked better, she could have picked someone like Wesley Clark as her Vice President, someone viewed as strong and experienced at fighting terrorism and wars. That would help cover her base on the experience issue on the war on terror, then she could point to the at home prosperity of the Clinton years and run on that combination. It would stand more of a shot in the 2004 electorate then it would today where she can't possibly embody change.
