37. Honestly? YES. I think Senatorial "bullying" is unkind in a primary of this type.
We've got two candidates who are VERY CLOSE--almost nuts to butts--on MOST positions. If you look at their voting records in the Senate since the two of them have been warming a seat there together, there's almost NO daylight between them, no matter how much people want to play up differences like they're INSURMOUNTABLE, and act like assholes while so doing.

We aren't talking Roberta Racist versus Willie Womanhater, here. Both candidates have much to offer, and either one will earn the support of most THINKING Democrats in the general election.

Those endorsements were, in my opinion, more about JOHN and TEDDY than they were about Barack, frankly. I think their "help" encouraged people who might not have voted on this wet, windy and rainy day to get off their asses and say "Fuck you, Johnny, and you too, Ted--you don't tell ME what to think."

It was only AFTER they piped up that a whole BOATLOAD of local politicians, Mayor Menino most prominantly, came out for Clinton--almost in protest against those two trying to throw their weight around.

I drove a couple dozen old folks to the polls today, and I did hear that precise argument from one woman--who also continues to support our Senators otherwise and was a strong Irish JFK fan--the sort with the picture in the living room next to the Pope. This voter was especially exorcised by the "obnoxious" Caroline Kennedy ad, that played in heavy (TOO HEAVY) rotation, where Caroline, in a monotone, told us what we should think, in frankly, a slightly 'snooty' voice. This woman said (I am paraphrasing slightly, here) "Who the hell is she to tell us what to do? She doesn't even LIVE here! She hasn't run for dogcatcher! What does she know about us anymore? And she was a just a child when he died! She should be ashamed dragging our John's dead body out...just for politics!!!"

Like I said, the only person who had a long-term, personal FRIENDSHIP, predating political office, was Deval. I can understand FRIENDSHIP, and I can honor that.

But my Senators made a political caculation, and their political calculator batteries were dead, apparently.
