53. and who shot JR?
Great stuff.
Here's another one you might want to work into your novel:

Clinton and Obama arrive at the convention virtually deadlocked. At the eleventh hour, Al Gore arrives and he and Obama work out a deal where Al agrees to be Obama's running mate -- even though being vp is a been there, done that proposition -- in return for a promise that Al will be able to use his platform as VP to push for global warming legislation. Al's appearance electrifies the convention as he announces that he has decided to put personal ambitions aside and, for the good of the nation and for history, be part of the election of the nation's first African American president. Obama and Al sweep to the nomination and then score a huge victory over McCain/Huckabee.

Then, in a sudden and unexpected turn of events, at his inauguration, Obama is felled by a mysterious illness and Al ascends to the presidency... only to have his ascension clouded by accusations that somehow he was responsible for poisoning Obama.

Hey if we're making up political fantasy, why can't I get into the act.
