He was Obama before Obama was Obama.

He probably could have beat Clinton in 1996 if he decided to run.

He's a moderate.

He's respected by both parties.

He's ashamed of his role in the Iraq war, even if he was the least-influental member of Bush's cabinet on that decision.

He advises prudent, decisive action when waging wars.

He doesn't aspire to be president.

He has even more military cred than McCain does.

He balances out Obama's biggest weakness.

His tone and style is very similiar to Obama.

He's been around Washington long enough to know everyone there, on both sides.

He probably is sicked by the thought of 100 years in Iraq as much as any of us.

He would, more than anything Obama could say, prove that he means it when he talks about bringing both sides together.

Pundits would celebrate the choice. They'd call Obama brilliant, as that move would be.

Independents who support McCain would have no reason to stick with him, everything they like about McCain they'd find in Powell.

It would be the ultimate turning of the page to a new era.

And I'd wholeheartedly endorse this selection, even though I know most people here would hate it.

But I'm sticking my neck out here - Obama/Powell 2008.
