(And yes, i know no one seems to believe the computer mockups in the last few years proving that it had to happen that way), he would bring nothing to the ticket. He's unpopular with the Dems, he's unpopular with the leftist Dems, and he's unpopular with his own party for, amongst other things, voting not to remove Clinton from office.
Nothing would be gained with Specter. Nothing would be gained with any Republican in Congress. McCain has a little upside, but much larger downside. Specter has no upside.
Unless we found a pro-choice Republican who opposed Bush on a few issues, there is no reason to go that route. We will win this one by being unlike the Republicans, not like them.
