23. Ratings and fascist candidates
Short term, they can make more money if they can manufacture a story and sell it as compelling. If both the Dems and GOP have a "presumptive nominee", that makes the air waves really boring. They might even have to go back to reporting the fact that we are still in the middle of 2 wars.

And longer term, they will do anything they can to damage candidates that don't support the fascist way. Clearly Obama is odd man out on that score.
