would likely have been made to only the closest inner circle of her friends. What is the likelihood that any of them speak to Novack?

I would take Ted Kennedy's public statement as proof over a supposed comment from a "close-in" supporter of Obama who is willing to speak to Novack about something Obama's wife said in private.
