and never connecting as they merrily careen on their way to wherever it is you think you're going.

I think Evergreen Emerald didn't supply any examples because (1) there are too many examples to really point at just one and (2) in a way it hurts to point at someone that you used to respect and admire.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here looking at military helicopters flying overhead where they never used to come, thinking about the fuel they're wasting while flying overhead, and wondering what the heck is going on and whether Obama is actually strong enough to stop it because all campaign plotting aside he hasn't shown much resolution or strength yet; worrying about healthcare for the family because Obama's plan is much less than universal or satisfactory; wondering how I'm going to heat the house next winter; wondering whether we're already in a depression but everyone's too afraid to say it because it might collapse the entire economy; wondering if Bush and Cheney have been siphoning off the nation's oil reserves along with the treasury; wondering how many more of us are going to lose our jobs.
