Without Zell Miller's endorsement, Jim Marshall might have lost his seat a few years ago. Zell endorsed him in 2004. I still think what he did at the convention in 2004 was disgraceful, the same for his endorsements of Perdue, but his endorsement helped Marshall avoid what could have been a loss.
Marshall now represents our best chance of taking back the GA governor's mansion. I have every reason to believe that many of these voters would support Clinton, because she talks their language. Many of them did in fact support her husband.
This being said, having an ideological purity is not what the party is supposed to be about. We are the coalition, the Republicans are the monolith.
