Let me point out one other thing about the beguiling Southern accent. Once you gain that accent, even if you move away, if you get around Southerners it comes right back. Remember that Hillary lived many years in Arkansas.

I've been in Oregon 15 years. When I first moved here, people instantly recognized my accent. Now it's almost gone. But get me on the phone with someone back home in Virginia or Tennessee, and within 1 minute all my accent comes back. There's just something about a Southern accent that comes naturally. To this day, I cannot say "you" to a group of people, it's always "y'all." And I still say "howdy" (but I think that's from my years in Texas and don't get me started on their accent!)

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. People love to talk with a Southern accent. You can find more important things to criticize about a person, can't you?
