Kerry says he's happy with polls [View All]

<AKRON | In a roundtable interview with Ohio newspaper reporters, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry said his support in polls is satisfactory — most have him tied or trailing President Bush — because his campaign has stayed off the TV airwaves for a month to save money.

Now, Kerry said he's going to gain ground as he "tells the truth" about the country's problems under the Bush administration.

"I think we're doing just terrific, and as the next two months go forward and we're campaigning and advertising and explaining to people the falsehoods and distortions of the Republicans, I'm very confident we're going to grow and do better," he said.

He finished a three-day Ohio swing, dubbed "A Stronger America Begins at Home," with a rally Saturday evening at a park in downtown Steubenville.
As he had since he spoke Thursday night in Springfield, Kerry all but dared voters to put Bush back in the White House.

"If you think your income is better, if you think your job is safer, if you think you're earning more money and you're saving more money, if you think your health care is what you want it to be, if you think outsourcing is good for America, go vote for George Bush," Kerry said.

"But if you think you can do better, putting people back to work, strengthening our country, having health care, restoring our schools, it's time to vote for a new direction.">
