Watching Al Gore and a familiar pang of emotion struck me |
|
He was on C-SPAN addressing a campaign rally in Pompano Beach, Florida just now.
"We've been through a lot in the last eight years" he said near the end of his speech.
There is a world of truth in those simple words: of human blood and tears; destroyed cities and entire nations; a badly beaten Constitution; an economy on the brink; and a population that fears their own government perhaps more so than any time in our history.
Talk about things coming full circle. Seeing Al (who will always be President Gore to me) and hearing him speak can almost make these terrible eight years fade, even if just by a bit. But maybe the time to ask, as we have repeatedly, 'Where might we be now if that election hadn't been stolen'? is done. Or at least until the Obama administration has had a chance to correct the damage which has occurred as a direct result of that theft.
We'll go through a lot in the next eight years, as well. But what a difference it will be.
