4. Stupid argument
It may sound nuanced, but there's times when the 'present' vote makes a statement. You may know a measure is going to pass easily, so you want it on record that you disagree with a particular element of a bill, but don't want it to seem like you are against the bill entirely. You could argue easily that its the chicken way out and just throw your name in the 'yes' column, because it's not controversial to just agree with everyone else.

Politics is a tricky game. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
