You are a great American who exemplifies the spirit it will require to remake America, to make it better, fairer, braver and more visionary, to undertake a new American Revolution, and this time to rebel peacefully but fiercely and unstintingly against those who would see the country banished back to the 19th Century, a revolution of the mind and of minds reaching out to minds around them and sharing truth among them. America needs to be taught not to tolerate - we should have been there 40 years ago, or 400 years ago - but to love. What human wealth, what rich energies in a nation alive to its diversity, and drawing meaningful strength and moral suasion - in the best sense of that concept - from that principle.

This is a touching, heart-tugging, magnificent post.

That I share citizenship with someone as intelligent, insightful, measured and thoughtful and good-hearted as you makes me proud to be an American, and I thank you.
