Obama, supporters are changing tune
(Columbus Dispatch, November 30, 2008)

Talk about change. Before the election, all we heard from the campaign of President-elect Barack Obama was immediate change that would take place if he were elected. They wanted all to believe our savior-elect would perform miracles from Day One. I've noticed the letters to the editor from Obama backers now declaring, "We need to have patience," "He'll be limited to what he can do," and "We may not notice change for several years." Amazing, considering the inauguration is still two months off.

By Obama's cabinet picks, it is obvious that he is doing nothing more than bringing back the Clinton administration.

Only time will tell who the truly sagacious ones were: the people who voted for Obama based on their emotions, or those who didn't buy the campaign promises and their fulfillment time frame from the beginning.

JEFF JANTZ
Hilliard

(* Heaves heavy sigh *)

OK, one more time, since Jeff still hasn't gotten the memo. The "change" we are all so eager for is a change from the dreadful policies and actions of the horrible bush regime to intelligent, pro-American policies that will benefit the country and its citizens. Only individuals with deep knowledge of Washington's ways and with already-existing networks of contacts there will be able to rapidly bring about the change we need. Among Democrats, these will be people who demonstrated their ability to get things done during the Clinton administration. Which part of this does Jeff the Letter-Writer not understand?

Our correspondent from Hilliard (a right-wing suburb of Columbus) also touches on the latest dumb Republican meme in his silly letter: that liberals are guided solely by emotion, whereas conservatives always think things through. Anyone with open eyes and a brain can clearly see that the opposite is true.
