6. Democrats in Mississippi
It's unfair to characterize Taylor as a DINO. Like someone said, the guy's an enigma to Republicans. It's great to hear him blast Rumsfeld whenever he gets the chance. As far as a Senate race in 2006 goes, here is the way I see it. John Kerry, whom the Republicans built up as the most liberal, flag-burning, gay-loving, God-hating, anti-South candidate ever to run for an election, got 40% of the vote here without campaigning here. So I really believe any statewide Democrat can count on a base of 40%. Trent Lott is more vunerable now than at any time; so we will see. Right now Eric Fleming is the only one to come out and announce that he will run for the seat.
