I heard Chris Bell speak at a local rally.

Pretty impressive. Took questions from the crowd and some were a bit tricky. One woman, being Catholic and pro life, asked about abortion. Chris answered that while the party platform and he personally favor the right of choice that nobody, pro-life or pro-choice, wants to see more abortions, that Texas is near the top in unwanted pregnancies and abortions and that his promise is to make abortion as rare as possible through education and economic development. He sounded very Clintonesq--safe, legal and rare.

Asked about prop 2 he said that regardless of where you stand on gay marriage it was a badly worded amendment. Read it carefully and paragraph A defines marriage and paragraph B says that Texas won't recognize it. I checked it out and sure enough, that's what it says!
