94. Chinese style is deeper needles. Yes, I have moxa all the time
She gave me some handy stick-on ones and showed me a few key points so I can do it at home (in a ventilated place) too. You don't leave the moxa until it HURTS. You put it on the chosen acupuncture points until it just begins to almost hurt, then you take it off and either stop or replace it with a fresh one. It's very easy and it does work. Doesn't hurt.

My acupucturist is trained in both basic styles, but she says all her patients except one woman prefer the Japanese style, where the needles go in only 1-2 mm. The exception is a very robust, extremely physical woman who says she likes the huge surge from the Chinese style. My acupuncturist says the Japanese style is more like subtle waves that gradually build - they both get to the same place and both use the same points.

Yes, it definiitely works. I've had some pretty dramatic results myself and have lots of stories I could tell.
