An AGREEMENT?? Do tell!!!
Sounds like they got a REEEEAAALLLY lousy deal then, what with the probation, community service, and anger management, the requirement for good behavior or else, plus the payout to Paul Williams, towelboy extraordinaire with cleat marks on his back. To me, that sounds like they paid the guy off, but hey, that's just MY take.
They took the best deal they could get, any countersuit would not have stood an ice cube's chance in hell, and they were looking at jail time for assault and battery...but hey, believe what you will.
I gotta hand it to you, though--you are a rabid fan....emphasis on the rabid!
On edit--uh, you didn't quite tell the truth there--you seem to be having trouble in that regard. The countersuit did not pass the smell test:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1909571Charges were dropped last week against Paul Williams, 25, of Derry, N.H., a part-time groundskeeper who got into the brawl with the two players.
Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said a review found there wasn't enough evidence to back up a cross-complaint brought by Nelson against Williams, who teaches special education at a middle school in New Hampshire.Real men don't beat up special ed teachers.....!!!!!
